Throughout her legal career that spanned over thirty years, Beadie tirelessly worked to advance Native Hawaiian issues on the social, political, legal and philanthropic fronts. She spearheaded legislative working groups to provide federal recognition for all Native Hawaiians through the Alaska Bill, and collaborated with the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of the Interior on measures necessary for reconciliation between the United States government and the Native Hawaiian people. Beadie is also an experienced real estate and business attorney having litigated cases involving contract disputes, condemnation, construction, and complex commercial disputes.
Prior to joining Settle Meyer Law, Beadie was the Deputy Attorney General for the State of Hawai‘i from 1982 to 1996. After leaving the Attorney General’s office, she famously served as the pro-bono attorney for Bishop Estate trust student beneficiaries and Na Pua A Ke Ali’i Pauahi to revitalize and restore the “broken trust.” Beadie was also instrumental in working alongside Senator Daniel Inouye to gain access for Native Hawaiian-owned organizations to the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program.
Before attending law school, Beadie established a career as a public relations officer with the Hawai‘i State Department of Social Services and Housing, directing media and public communications for the state agency. She has always been a fierce advocate for theNative Hawaiian community, known for her integral role in restoring and preserving Iolani Palace dating back to the 1950’s and her volunteer work serving countless community organizations and institutions, many of which are listed below. Although Beadie is no longer actively practicing, Settle Meyer Law is proud to honor her illustrious career and carry on her legacy in our work.
